Relaxed Retreat Bathroom

The clients wanted a master bathroom that felt updated, functional, and calming — a place to unwind from a busy life with two young kids. The original layout wasn’t working for them. The large room had a steam sauna they never used, only one sink at the vanity, and very little privacy at the toilet. It was also dark and cold, with minimal lighting and tile floors that made mornings feel even chillier.

We removed the unused steam sauna and created a spacious walk‑in shower. The new double‑sink vanity supports their daily routine, and rotating the toilet allowed us to add a proper water closet for privacy. To warm up the space, we added recessed lighting, LED sconces, and replaced the tile with an SPC wood‑look floor for a softer, more inviting feel. Removing the wing wall opened up a beautiful view into the new shower, and the mix of black and white finishes adds contrast. Texture comes through in the shiplap, penny‑round shower floor, and geometric picket tile, giving the room depth without overwhelming the calm palette.

Now the bathroom feels bright, warm, and truly functional — a retreat that finally matches their lifestyle.

We added recessed cans throughout the whole bathroom, as well as LED sconces, the space really brightened up. Replacing the tile with an SPC wood look created a warmer, calmer bathroom with a softer pallet.

We created a beautiful view into their new large and relaxing shower. The contrast between the black and white gave the room contrast. We added texture throughout the room with the shiplap, penny rounds on the shower floor, and the picket geometric tile.

The designer created a larger shower that opened up this bathroom. Centering the wood grain vanity in the room made a focal point against the white shiplap. Mixing the black and nickel finishes added depth to the space.
